Pilates is named after its creator, Joseph Pilates, who developed the exercises in the 1920s. German-born Joseph Pilates, believed that modern lifestyle, bad posture, and inefficient breathing were the roots of poor health.

To combat these problems Joseph created a system of vigorous physical exercises designed to correct muscular imbalances and improve posture, coordination, balance, strength and flexibility, as well as to increase breathing capacity and organ function.

Since the work of Joseph Pilates, Pilates has become a popular method of exercise and is practiced world wide. The low impact nature of Pilates exercises has a high degree of diversity amongst all groups and fitness levels. Whether you are recovering from a musculoskeletal injury, neurological impairment, operation, pregnancy, or simply wanting to improve your physical activity and fitness, then Pilates is for you.

"You will feel better in ten sessions, look better in twenty sessions, and have a completely new body in thirty sessions. "
